I wanted to share with you the details of a high profile shoot I did for Starman and band being featured on Sky1 Pineapple dance studios (soon in the US)

This shoot was to be filmed and is due to air in the UK soon. I told some of my tog friends and they almost insisted that I should hire big portable lights as I wanted to shoot in the street and on mobile studio backdrop setup I have. Well, I've been following this group for almost three years now and have picked up a lot of tricks and gear that would enable me to shoot in a big style using a bag of Strobes and some cheap triggers. So being mad and potentially putting myself up for a big fall thought no lets do it with strobes :p here is the gear list:

Canon 5D2
Canon 40D
1 canon 550 ex
1 metz 50 mz
1 metz 45 ct
3 Yongnuo YN460-II
3 Yongnuo YN460
2 TRIPLE shoot through Umbrella holder lightstand adapter
2 Light Stands
5 RF-602 receivers and one trigger

The kickers in this list are the 6 Yongnuo's and the triple flash holders, they allowed me to shoot with all the flashes on relatively low power for fast recycle - coupled with ISO 400 I had near instant ready flash with loads of actual light to work with. For the Studio set-up I had the two big metz hammer heads and one 550ex on 1/8 power to light the backdrop (from behind the white cloth backdrop), all point up and being defused by card.

The 6 Yongnuos' were on the two TRIPLE flash adapters with umbrella reflectors all set to 1/4 power initially whilst I worked them back down for the light I wanted. For the whole day I only had one battery to change and that was the metz 50mz battery which is normally a good work horse but has to support a fan as well. That's well over 300 studio and a whole bunch of street shots

Anyway, here is the results and a link to the sky website showing the pics with a video being shot by the MUA (check the mirrors for those flash adaptors)
